Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has nominated a list of 34 players that will battle for the African Footballer of the Year Award.

Leading the chase for the award are Super Eagles trio of Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa, Egypt's Mohammed Salah, Senegal duo of Saido Mane and Naby Keita, Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Algeria's Riyad Mahrez, Morocco's Mehdi Benatia and Ghana's Thomas Partey.

Others on the list are Cote d'Ivoire's Wilfried Zaha, Algeria's Yacine Brahimi, Senegal's Kalidou Koulibaly, Cameroon's Franck Kom, Mali's Moussa Marega, South Africa's Percy Tau to mention a few.

The CAF Awards 2018 Gala to honour footballers and officials, who distinguished themselves during the year under review, will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in Dakar, Senegal.
