The current Nigerian Head Coach, who was also a key member of the gold medal-winning Dream Team at the Olympic Games has revealed the most beautiful moments that has remained unforgettable for him.

On the 20th-year anniversary of winning Nigeria’s first and only gold medal at the footballing event of the Olympic games, former Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Oliseh has made known his favourite moments of the events in Atlanta 96.

Talking via Skype at the Social Media Week Lagos and interviewed by ace sports-caster Colin Udoh, Oliseh said, “ There are actually two moments I can’t forget about Atlanta 96. The first was after the game against Brazil. Before that semi-final match, when we went into malls to get Nigeria-branded souvenirs like scarfs and shirts it was pretty difficult as there were more of Brazilian, American and Argentine items.

But after we defeated Brazil (4-3 in the semi-final), the whole place was flooded with Nigerian colours. It was beautiful.

Even coming into the stadium in the final game against Argentina, we still could see Americans who had painted their faces with the green-white-green colours of Nigeria. That was an unbelievable moment for me.”

Sunday Oliseh continued, “The second moment was when Emmanuel Amuneke scored the winning goal. When Amuneke scored the Atlanta 96 winning goal, first thing he did was to look at the linesman if it was offside. When the flag didn’t go up, he now said: make we see how dem wan take come score us again now!”
